St Bruno's Murals deepen Ecological Connections
Students at St Bruno's in Toronto Catholic School District worked collaboratively with each other and staff to produce beautiful eco-murals for each class. They used their imagination, thoughts and creativity to demonstrate to their community how important the care of the planet is to them. The murals are hung on the fences that surround St. Bruno and are shared with you as a slide show in our Best Practices video gallery.

GLC “Gets the Ball Rolling”
reprinted from an article by Ashley Sawicki in The Northern Sun News

On Tuesday September 21, 2010 the Golden Learning Centre (GLC) [in Keewatin-Patricia District School Board] set in motion a provincial initiative and began their official journey to becoming an active EcoSchool.

Joining over 1,000 schools in 40 different school boards across the province that are already utilizing their certification, the current Eco-Team at GLC recognizes that the initiative will be hard to do in Red Lake but are ready to “Get the Ball Rolling.” MORE

EcoSchools Float in Niagara Wine Festival Grand Parade
More than 100 staff and students from across Niagara Catholic DSB walked in the parade celebrating Niagara’s local grape growing and winemaking industries and the environment.

Niagara Catholic’s float focused on the parade’s theme, “How Green It Is”, by recognizing the Board’s EcoSchools success in the 2009-2010 school year. Niagara Catholic is the first school board in Ontario to have all schools certified in the Ontario EcoSchools program.

Congratulations to Denis Morris Catholic High School, whose float won the         Harvest Award for the Best Float with the 2010 theme. In addition to   several enthusiastic members of the Denis Morris family, the float         contained a six-foot wine bottle and wine glass made entirely of recyclable materials.
