Student medium is the message!
Student work adds vibrant energy to eco-team communications, engaging the school community and demonstrating student learning. Below are some examples of student work:

Henry Street High School, Durham District School Board
Giant Cafeteria Mural
This mural takes up an entire wall in Henry Street High School's cafeteria, and required many members of the student community to work together in its creation. The artwork reminds students every day about the importance of the choices we make.

Thames Valley District School Board
Keep Us Safe
This elementary school wanted to prevent problems with cars picking up and dropping in an unsafe area.

Students painted their poster on wood and attached a plexi-glass sheet over top before mounting it to a fence facing the cars.

St. Henry, Toronto Catholic District School Board
The Secret Life of Composting
This poster, created by a grade eight student, is an example of student work used to communicate ideas for waste reduction.

Last year, St. Henry decided to have a litterless lunch program to reduce garbage. When they discovered that it was not an option to provide a composter on the school site, the EcoTeam asked students to take their leftovers home and explain to their parents the need to compost.

Pinegrove, Halton District School Board

Modelling a Waste Free Lunch
Pinegrove, an elementary school, announced in their newsletter that they were planning on starting a Waste Free Lunch program on Wednesdays.

To demonstrate what a waste free lunch would look like, students created

a 3-dimensional model out of clay and placed it at the main entrance of the school.

They also found out from their school custodian that seven bags of garbage were usually collected on Wednesdays. This gave them a baseline to measure how much waste was reduced as result of their Waste Free Lunch efforts.

St. Patrick, Niagara Catholic District School Board
My Personal Lorax
This wall displays curriculum-based artwork inspired by Dr. Seuss's "The Lorax" and reminds students of the Lorax's message to conserve our precious resources.
