What happens at a site visit?
In order to provide comprehensive evaluation, rich feedback, and to verify the certification application there are three parts to the certification site visit:

• a discussion with the EcoTeam (students, staff, custodian, principal, other team members),
• the portfolio evaluation, and
• a walkabout of the school to check the Look Fors and verify the application.

More information will be available in the Spring.

Will the site visit affect our school’s certification application score?
The answers to the discussion questions do not affect the certification application score. The portfolio evaluation may change the certification application score. Assessors will compare their observations during the Look For walkabout with the certification application and may change the points allocated if appropriate. If a school does not claim points in a part of certification, then that part will not be assessed during the Look Fors section of the site visit.

Who should be at the site visit?
Students are central to the site visit; they can participate in all aspects of the conversation and Look For walkabout. It is important for as many EcoTeam members as possible to participate in the site visit.

When will the site visit take place?
Site visits will occur during the school day throughout the months of May and June. Each site visit will be approximately 30-45 minutes long.

When will we find out if we are certified?
After all the schools in your board have been assessed, the Application Summary section will be updated to include the assessor’s evaluation and feedback as well as your school’s final standing for this year’s accomplishments. Your board rep will notify you when this information has been updated.
